LIFT ~ 2009…
Today the LIFT Drama Team arrived in Somerset for a week-long time of intense practice as they prepare for the upcoming camp season. Much time and prayer has been put into exactly what sketches would be used this summer. Each sketch is thoughtfully read, the theme determined (i.e. salvation, surrender, etc…), the characters are assigned to the team member we feel best suits what is required and then we prayerfully seek the Father as to what night the sketch should be used and where during the service it fits. We take this ministry VERY seriously.
As usual God has put together a magnificent team of students who believe LIFT is their purpose for the summer. Here they are…
We have Sammi Jo, our lone lady on the team. She is a product of our ministry and is a student at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. She has traveled with LIFT for several years and has been a part of the drama ministry for the last 2 years. What an amazing young lady! We laughingly call her the “trophy” because she will be a trophy for any young man who marries her.
We have James out of Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Richardson, TX. His church is one of the largest supporters of our ministry. He has a wealth of acting experience and brings a wonderful sense of humor to the platform. He has more energy than any one person should possess.
Next is Dustin, hailing from Lindenwald Baptist Church in Ohio. He will be a junior this fall at Baptist Bible College. Something funny we found out about Dennis is that he and Sammi had a 7:30 am Psychology class together this last year; however, they had not officially met until today. Dennis remembered Sammi but she claims, due to the early hour of the class, she failed to get “acquainted” with all her classmates.
Lastly, but most certainly not the least, is Jon. He, too, is a product of our ministry in Somerset. He is a student at the University of Kentucky (GO CATS!) as well as a race car driver. We first saw his acting talent last year when he participated in a children’s musical we had a church. He is a natural on the stage, especially in the area of impromptu acting. What a wonderful addition to the team!
The LIFT Drama Team will be under the direction of a trio of ladies who have 9 years experience working together in a variety of ministries ~ Sara Robinson, LIFT Operations Director, West, Christi Henderson, a product of Dan’s ministry at Oak Hill Baptist Church, has an outrageous ability to bring out the “drama” in just about anyone and lastly, me. I am so thrilled God is allowing my “LIFT” role to broaden.
Our plan is in place…
Our course is set…
Our purpose is clear…
“Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age." ~Matthew 28:18-20 (MSG)

In Him,
Stefanie

I really enjoyed your devotion on The Christian Woman. It's true that there is a negative stereotype associated with being a "Christian" these days. I often wonder if others cannot understand that we are not perfect but forgiven, until they themselves have given their lives to Christ? I don't know :) Thanks for the devotion and food for thought!
